Solar Light – All Natural Lighting

Executive Summary about Solar Light by Jerome Sturgeleski

We all have access to a free, bright and renewable source of light – the sun. A great way to utilize it after dark is with solar lights. The lights are powered by light emitting diodes (LEDS) which rival hard-wired lights. Solar light have several advantage over hard-wired lights some of which:

Require no wiring

Powered by the sun

Fast and easy to install

Energy saving

Recharged by solar panels under sunlight

Light turns on automatically when dark

Super bright LED for brighter light output

Rechargeable Ni-Cd AA battery which are included

Safe water resistant

CE certified

LED bulb never burns out

Up to 10 hours of light when dark

Corrosion resistant

LEDs can last up to 100,000 hours

Add some unique lights and be the talk of the neighborhood.

There may be even more advantage to solar lighting based on your application. Solar lighting is a very versatile way to light up your yard.

Solar Light – Pros and Cons

When you are considering install lighting of any kind, you need to evaluate which types of lighting are available. Here are some pros and cons of solar lighting to consider.

Pros:

1. Ease of installation

2. They are relatively inexpensive

3. They come in a variety of styles, shapes, materials and colors.

4. They can be moved around easily.

5. Since they are relatively inexpensive, you can change to another style of solar landscape light and get the latest and greatest that is out today.

Cons:

1. Need of sunlight. Solar Lights are powered by re-chargeable batteries. These batteries are charge via a small solar panel affixed to the light. If the area does not get adequate sun, the batteries may not charge adequately.

2. Batteries affected by weather. If your area does get wintry and cold weather, the batteries may not charge adequately since cold weather has a tendency to draw down the batteries power much the same as a car battery. Further, in winter, you may get more cloudy days and the batteries may not charge adequately. Your solar light might even get buried in the snow and get forgotten and when clearing snow, they may be damaged.

As you can see, solar lights fall into the same Pro and Cons that any product may fall in. The most important thing to consider is is to decide how flexible you want to be with light. Solar lights certainly offer that, but it may not be the best solution for every application.

In explaining this project, the comment made by the designers at Onø Design “sensibly reusing the daylight” as far as how the lamp is basically one giant solar charged LED lighting. How beautiful?

During the day, turn it upside-down to gather the day lights. At night, turn it rightside-up and it switches on. Light to you all night. Apparently, LED lighting, in addition to burning longer and for less power (of course), also does not attract insects.
